Getting to Granville Island

Transit

The #50 bus goes directly to Granville Island from Gastown/downtown, stopping at Anderson St & W 2nd Ave near the red neon sign. Otherwise, most downtown buses stop at Granville St & W 5th Ave (south end of the Granville Bridge), a 5-10 minute walk over via the pedestrian underpass.

Ferry

There are also two mini-ferry services: Aquabus (docks between the Public Market and Arts Club Theatre, also connects to Yaletown, Science World, Hornby St, Stamp’s Landing — and over half their boats take bikes) and False Creek Ferries (docks near Bridges Restaurant, connects to the Maritime Museum, Aquatic Centre, Stamp’s Landing, Science World).

Parking

Pay parking runs 9am-10pm daily, purchased in 15/30/60-min increments via pay station or the PayByPhone/hangTag apps (lot code 1670). Rates step up seasonally — summer (May-Sept) weekday rates are $1/hr from 9-11am, $3/hr from 11am-6pm, $1/hr from 6-10pm, with weekends at $6/hr from 11am-6pm; winter (Oct-Apr) rates are roughly half that ($1/$2/$1, weekends $4/hr). Parking paid through 10pm is valid until 9am the next day, but overnight parking is only allowed in the multi-level parkade off Old Bridge St, and needs to be registered by phone. Veteran/Memorial Cross plates park free. Bike racks and Mobi bike-share stations are scattered around the island too.
