Membership Policies

- 1-Month Unlimited — $180/month. Unlimited classes. Our standard ongoing membership, available anytime — no rate lock, just month-to-month unlimited access.
- Class cards are prepaid bundles of classes purchased upfront:
- 5-Class Card — $115, valid for 6 months from purchase.
- 10-Class Card — $200, valid for 6 months from purchase.
- Class card credits expire 6 months from the date of purchase and don’t roll over or extend past that date.
- 2-Week Unlimited — $50. A short-term pass for newcomers or visitors wanting unlimited classes for two weeks.
- Drop-in classes: There are 2 Classes for EACH CLASS. One is for those seeking to utilize the sliding scale option. We have 15 mats reserved at sliding scale. The other is for those looking to use their class cards, memberships or pay a regular drop in.
- Sliding Scale is our alternative to Class Pass – we figure, you pay us a reduced rate directly instead. This makes it financially accessible to more people but also creates a sustainable income for the Collective.
- Teacher’s Drop-In — $15. A discounted drop-in rate for currently active yoga teachers. To qualify, show us your current class schedule at check-in (from your studio’s website or booking page, with your name on it) — this only needs to happen once; after that, you’re set for future visits.
NOTE: Class cards, passes, and drop-in classes are non-refundable once purchased, and class card credits are non-transferable between people.
Our sliding scale is self-selected — an honor system, no questions asked and no proof required. Use the guide below to find where you land, and choose honestly based on your current circumstances rather than what you think you “should” pick. If you’re able to pay toward the higher end, it directly helps keep the lower rates available and our teachers paid fairly.

Rate |
This might be you if… |
|
$25 (Sustaining) |
You have a stable income, some savings or financial cushion, and can comfortably budget for wellness, travel, or occasional treats without much thought. |
|
$29 (Standard) |
You have a steady income that covers your needs, and a class is an easy, unremarkable expense — our suggested default if you’re not sure where you fall. |
|
$15 (Access) |
Money is tighter, you’re budgeting carefully, or you’re navigating financial hardship or a limited income — this is our accessible floor, so cost is never the reason you can’t practice. |
There’s no wrong answer, and your rate can change class to class as your circumstances do.
We get asked why we’re not on ClassPass, so here’s the real answer.
- The payout is too low to be fair. ClassPass pays studios $3 to $8 per class, no matter what we charge at the door. That gap doesn’t vanish — it comes out of the teacher’s pay, the studio’s ability to stay open, or both. We built this studio so our teachers could earn a living wage. A platform that pays pennies a class works against that from day one.
- It rents out our community. ClassPass is built for hopping between studios chasing the next deal, not for coming back. A practice is something you return to, with a teacher and the people next to you on the mat you actually get to know. A revolving door of one-time visitors makes that a lot harder to build.
- We already built accessibility in. Every class holds sliding-scale spots ($15-$25, pay what works for you) right alongside memberships and drop-ins. Anyone can walk in and find a price that fits — no app, no discount code, no cut taken off the top before your teacher sees a dime.
It’s slower to grow this way than flipping a switch on ClassPass. But it means the money you pay for class actually reaches your teacher, and it means we’re building relationships instead of renting out mats to people we’ll probably never see twice.
As an act of gratitude, equity and land back to the original care takers of this land, the traditional unceded and stolen territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations and all indigenous folks who have been systemically affected, left out and harmed by colonization as it intersects with capitalism and the wellness world, we offer free passes to all indigenous folks to lower the barrier to access and who would like to be part of this yoga practice and community.
We ask for you to fill out the form simply as a way of us getting to know you individually and gathering data that could be used for proof that this is a need in our community and for grants and sponsorships as we continue to move the needle on getting yoga into the minds and bodies of indigenous folks that have been left out of this healing space for far too long. The sharing of this data will always begin with asking you for consent and we are grateful to be in good company with you.
Valid for 10 classes, 6 months from issue.
- You’re charged an initial payment when you sign up, but your membership stays paused until you register for your first class.
- Your monthly billing cycle is set from your first class date, not your signup date — so if you sign up June 1 but don’t book a class until July 15, you won’t be charged again until August 15 (one month after that first use).
- After that, you’re charged automatically every month on that same date unless you cancel (see below).
- You can cancel anytime — there’s no minimum commitment.
- To cancel, log in to your account and cancel from your dashboard / email us at least 5–7 days before your next billing date. Cancellations submitted after that date will take effect at the end of the following billing cycle, since the next payment will have already processed.
- Your membership stays active (and you can keep taking classes) through the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for.
- Membership payments already processed are non-refundable.
- Memberships are tied to the individual who signed up and can’t be shared, transferred, or gifted to someone else.
- You can freeze your membership once per calendar year, for 4–6 weeks, for reasons like travel, injury, or illness.
- Requests must be submitted by email via our contact form or directly to info@theyogacollective.ca, 5–7 days before your next billing date — freezes can’t be backdated.
- While frozen, billing pauses and no classes are deducted; billing (and your regular monthly cycle) resumes automatically when the freeze ends.
This applies to everyone booking a class — members, class card holders, and drop-ins.
- Please reserve your spot through [TYC BOOKING SYSTEM] before class. There are 2 Classes for EACH CLASS. One is for those seeking to utilize the sliding scale option. We have 15 mats reserved at sliding scale. The other is for those looking to use their class cards, memberships or pay a regular drop in.
- Cancel 4 or more hours before class starts and your class credit is refunded to your account as credit — whether you booked with a membership, a class card, or a drop-in payment. Account credit doesn’t expire, so there’s no rush to use it.
- Cancel within 4 hours of class, or don’t show up: the class is forfeited (deducted from your card, or counted as your visit for the day if you’re a member), and a CA$10 late cancellation / no-show fee applies, charged separately from the forfeited credit. A no-show is recorded automatically starting 2 hours after class ends if you haven’t checked in. This fee applies every time, for both memberships and class card/package holders.
- Waitlists: if a class is full, you can join the waitlist and will be notified if a spot opens up. Once you’re moved off the waitlist into the class, standard cancellation policies apply.
- If we cancel a class (instructor illness, weather, building closure, etc.), you’ll be notified as soon as possible and any class card credit or drop-in payment will be fully restored — no charge to you.
- Refunds for cancelled class registrations are issued as account credit (which never expires), not back to your original payment method, and follow the 4-hour cancellation window above.
- Outside of a timely class cancellation, membership payments, class cards, and drop-in class payments are non-refundable, except where required by law or where the studio is responsible for an error (e.g., a billing mistake or a class we cancelled).
Changes to These Policies
We may update these policies from time to time — for example, as our class card options or scheduling evolve. The version on our website at theyogacollective.ca is always the current one. We’ll do our best to give notice of any changes that affect active memberships.
