Studio Etiquette

  • Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to check in, unroll your mat, and settle in before class begins.
  • No technology in the practice room. Please fully silence your phone (including vibrate) and other devices before entering. This includes smart watches.
  • We are scent free studio. Please refrain from wearing scented products.
  • Late arrival: if you arrive after class has started, please wait quietly outside the studio door during the opening centering (usually the first 8–10 minutes). Once centering ends, your teacher will open the door one time to let waiting students in — please have your phone fully silenced before entering, and step in quietly. Please do not knock on the door. This is the only entry point once class is underway; if you miss it, front desk staff can help you find another class.
  • This is a meditative space — if you need to communicate, please keep it to a low volume, both inside and outside the room.
  • Please move calmly and quietly when entering or exiting the room, especially mid-class.
  • Please try not to leave early — make time for your full practice, including the end of class. Plan for a buffer when it comes to parking. If you do need to leave early, let your teacher know beforehand and slip out quietly before savasana/meditation so other students can rest undisturbed.
  • Please tidy up after yourself — return props to their place, and take your water bottle, towel, and belongings with you when you leave.
  • Because The Yoga Collective shares space with Ballet BC at 1286 Cartwright St, we ask everyone to be mindful in shared common areas — quiet voices, tidy belongings, and respect for other groups using the building.
  • The studio (Gordon Studio) is on the 3rd floor. Bathrooms, showers, water, and the change rooms are all on the 1st floor — grab everything you need before heading up.
  • Please remove your shoes in the hallway before entering the studio. Hang wet outerwear on the hooks provided; bring everything else in with you.

Health & Safety

  • Please don’t attend class if you’re feeling unwell or showing symptoms of a contagious illness. If you need to skip class for this reason, let us know and we’ll treat it as a studio-side accommodation for the cancellation policy found on our MEMBERSHIP POLICIES page.
  • Yoga is a physical practice — please listen to your body, modify as needed, and let your teacher know before class about any injuries, conditions, or pregnancy.
  • Hands-on adjustments & consent tokens: in classes that offer hands-on adjustments, you’ll be given a consent token at the start of class to place by your mat, indicating whether you’re open to being adjusted that day. You can flip your token at any point during class as your comfort level changes — teachers check in with tokens throughout, so your consent is never locked in for the whole practice.
  • Everyone must sign a liability waiver when they register or create an account — this is built into the account creation step, so it’s taken care of automatically.
  • The minimum age to attend class independently is 19. Anyone younger must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Because a waiver signed by a minor isn’t legally binding on its own, anyone under 19 needs a parent or legal guardian to complete the waiver on their behalf — either by creating their OfferingTree account and accepting the waiver for them, or by signing a paper waiver in person at the studio before their first class if they’re attending as a drop-in.

Lost & Found

  • We’re not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal belongings. Unclaimed items will be held for 4 weeks before being donated.
